Keep Calm and Stay Organised!

Hello, hello my creative friends!

Anyone who knows me, knows I absolutely love being organized and keeping everything in their place. Some might say it’s because my star sign is Virgo, I don’t know, but I just love those shops where you can buy plastic containers of all sizes! Is that weird? Hmmmm…

When I watched the TV series with Marie Kondo I went straight to my bedroom and reorganized all of my drawers thinking “this is fantastic! How did I not know of this before?”

Anyway, my passion for organizing anything and everything has pushed me to create a Pattern and Illustration eLog book to keep my patterns, well you guessed it, organized.

How my folders are organized

How my folders are organized

I have started saving my patterns and illustrations in folders that have an SKU number (I use the year I create the pattern in and then a number starting with 001 followed by the name; for example 2019-001 Sea Life); this helps me because when I open the main folder where all the pattern folders are kept, they appear automatically in chronological order.

But having a unique number for every pattern is also a great help when you want to catalogue your patterns and when you want to find a specific pattern without having to dig for hours in your hard drive (or an external hard drive, or Dropbox….)

I have uploaded a picture of every pattern I have made, the description and its SKU number on to Airtable but I do love to have a copy of this record on my computer which I can access even without an internet connection and, I know some of you might roll their eyes now, I also have a physical copy of my Log book (you can find that on Amazon) 😊

For all the pattern designers out there reading this blog I have a little treat 😊 you can download a sample of the ePattern and Illustration Log book by clicking HERE.

Also, if you like the eLog Book and would like to purchase the full book, you can go to the shop section of my website and use the code DISCOUNT20 at checkout to receive 20% off your order!

I’d love to know how you like to keep organized, if indeed you like to keep organized, or if you are a more spontaneous person who likes organized chaos 😊 let me know in the comments!

Till next time

Create and be happy
